Samsung plans to enhance video quality by improving the light sensitivity, luminance range, dynamic range, and depth sensing of its ISOCELL camera sensor.

Samsung is planning to bring major improvements to its next-generation ISOCELL camera sensor, especially in terms of video quality.

As Sammobile reports, multi-frame and multi-exposure processing improves images by taking at least two frames, a low exposure and a high exposure, and merging them for better dynamic range.

However, this is difficult to do with video as the camera needs to capture at least 60 frames for 30fps video.

The tech giant plans to enhance video quality by improving light sensitivity, luminance range, dynamic range, and depth sensing.

It has developed a high-refractive nano-structure for the optical wall between the pixel’s color filters and what it’s calling nano-photonics color routing will come to ISOCELL cameras in 2024.

In addition, the company is building an in-sensor, single-exposure High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology that will improve the dynamic range of video.

The report states that Samsung is also planning to enhance the quality of portrait videos by using the iToF (indirect Time of Flight) depth sensor, which will have an integrated Image Signal Processor (ISP).
