Mysuru: KV Sampath KumarThe editor of India’s only Sanskrit daily Sudhar for the last 31 years, died of a heart attack on Wednesday morning. He was 64 years old.
Sudharma was founded by his father Kalale Nadadur Varadaraja Iyengar, a renowned Sanskrit scholar from Mysore, on July 15, 1970. After his death in 1990, Sampath Kumar and his wife Vidushi Jayalakshmi KS took over.
The newspaper had a circulation of around 3,500 with a nationwide readership. He launched the online version to make sure it reaches readers across the world.
Sampath Kumar, born in Kalale village near Nanjangud town, earned his B.Com and BL degrees. He studied Sanskrit Maharaja Sanskrit College Here to assist his father in extracting works related to Sanskrit including the newspaper. After starting his own printing company in 1988, he started desktop publishing in Mysore. He introduced the country’s first Sanskrit calendar in 2009. He was also active in social service.
