Samantha Akkineni defamation case: Hyderabad court orders YouTube channels to remove problematic content

Following Samantha AkkineniAfter separating from her actor-husband Naga Chaitanya, several netizens and YouTube channels had come up with theories suggesting that the actress was responsible for the divorce. She was accused of having affairs and causing an abortion, following which Samantha filed a defamation suit against three YouTube channels and a lawyer named CL Venkata Rao. Now, after several rounds of hearing, the Kukatpally Court in Hyderabad has delivered a verdict in the defamation case, asking the channels to remove the content to which the actor has objected.

The court has also ordered her not to publish derogatory remarks against the actress and asked advocate Rao not to make baseless allegations.

Earlier, the Kukatpally court had rejected Samantha’s appeal to take legal action against those who claimed to have defamed her. Instead he was asked to apologise. The court had cited that celebrities share personal details and then file defamation cases, which was not correct. Unwilling to take it, Samantha had to bring her own lawyer to her defense. It was reported that Samantha’s lawyer cited the recent ‘Standing Injunction Order’ case filed by Shilpa Shetty as a reference point for Samantha’s case.

Earlier this month, Samantha attacked the “false rumours” being circulated in the media against Chaitanya after his split from him. Appreciating the support she received after the Partition, she also criticized those spreading unverified and baseless speculations about the reasons for her separation.

Samantha announced her separation from her husband Naga Chaitanya on October 2. In 2016, the couple made their relationship public and they tied the knot on October 7, 2017. On October 2, 2021, the couple filed for divorce.
