The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has said in its public notice that there will be a ban on serving and selling non-vegetarian dishes within 10 km of Yelahanka Air Force Station.

The Bengaluru civic body on Friday ordered the closure of meat stalls, non-vegetarian hotels and restaurants from January 30 to February 20 in view of Aero. India Display.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), in its public notice, has said that serving and selling non-vegetarian dishes will be banned within 10 km radius of Yelahanka Air Force Station.

Aero India show will run from 13 to 17 February.

BBMP said, “This is to the notice of general public and owners of meat stalls, non-vegetarian hotels and restaurants to close all meat/chicken/fish shops and to prohibit serving/selling non-vegetarian dishes within 10 km radius. From 30 January to 20 February at Air Force Station, Yelahanka”.

Any violation of this would be punishable under BBMP Act-2020 and Rule 91 of the Indian Aircraft Rules 1937.

According to BBMP officials, the decision was taken because bulk of non-vegetarian food in public places attract scavenging birds, especially kites, which can cause mid-air accidents.

Aero India states in its website that a total of 731 exhibitors – 633 Indian and 98 foreign – have registered for the airshow.

According to officials, Aero India has carved a niche for itself globally as one of the leading aerospace exhibitions with 13 successful editions held in Bengaluru since 1996.
