Sacrilege in Patiala’s Kali Mata Temple: Young man clasped on the statue by climbing the grill, the priests-devotees handed him over to the police after beating

There was a ruckus in the famous Kali Mata temple of Patiala in Punjab on Monday. Here a young man desecrated the seat of Kali Mata. Suddenly he climbed onto the seat by climbing the grill in front of the statue in the temple and clung to the statue. The priest present there immediately pushed the young man down from the seat.

Angered by the incident, the members of the temple committee and the devotees present there beat up the youth. Later he was handed over to the police. Former Punjab Chief Minister and Punjab Lok Congress Party President Captain Amarinder Singh condemned the sacrilege incident.

The accused youth had reached the temple around 2 pm on Monday. The young man, wearing an orange colored lower and jacket, had tied a handkerchief over his mouth. Due to Corona, the temple committee members and priests took it in general. After standing in front of the statue for some time and applauding, the young man suddenly reached the seat by jumping over the grill and embraced the idol of Kali Mata.

Apart from the priest and many devotees, women policemen were also present in the temple at the time of the incident. Seeing the young man climbing on the seat, everyone swung into action. The priest present on the seat immediately separated the young man from the idol of the mother and pushed him down. The pundits and other devotees standing there started beating the young man for offering the food.

The lady policeman present on the spot immediately informed the incident to the Kotwali police station. The police team reached the spot and took the youth into custody. Inspector Bikram Singh Brar, SHO of Kotwali police station said that the youth has not been identified. The Police is investigating.

Administration To 24 hours Of Ultimatum
On the other hand, members of many Hindu organizations gathered outside the Kali Mata temple as soon as they got information about the incident and staged a dharna there. Seeing the seriousness of the incident and the atmosphere getting tense, police force was deployed on the spot. Hindu leader Gaggi Pandit, who was among the protesters, demanded strict action against the youth. He threatened that if the administration did not take action against the youth who desecrated the idol of the mother within 24 hours, he would commit suicide along with his companions outside the temple.

Captain said – conspiracy to spoil the atmosphere
Former Punjab CM and Punjab Lok Congress Party President Captain Amarinder Singh condemned the sacrilege incident in his home town of Patiala. The Captain tweeted that this is a conspiracy to spoil the atmosphere of Punjab which cannot be tolerated. The Captain urged the Election Commission to take strict action in this matter.

Hindu Takht and Hindu Suraksha Samiti alleged that the youth had climbed the pedestal with the intention of destroying the idol of Kali Mata. Police should take strict action in this matter. In protest against this incident, Hindu Takht and Hindu Suraksha Samiti have called for Patiala Bandh on 25 January. Both the organizations have also called upon all their members to reach Kali Mata Mandir on January 25 at 9 am.
