The Indian Embassy in Ukraine, which was recently relocated to Poland, on Friday issued an advisory saying it continues to operate with a 24/7 helpline. In the consultation, the embassy shared details where stranded Indians can contact the embassy.

“The Embassy of India continues to function and can be contacted via email at: consl.kyiv@mea.gov.in For further assistance on WhatsApp the following 24*7 helpline numbers. +380933559958 2. +919205290802 3. +917428022564,” the embassy said.

Despite the challenges posed by the Ukraine conflict, the government ensured that around 22,500 Indian citizens returned home safely. Most of the people evacuated under Operation Ganga are medical students.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi reiterated India’s stand on the situation in Ukraine during the weekly briefing of the MEA.

“We have been clear and consistent, we think the only way out is through diplomacy and dialogue, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized in his talks with President Putin and President Zelensky,” he said.

Bagchi said that at the United Nations, India has been highlighting the need to respect the United Nations Charter and the territorial integrity of countries.

On 24 February, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine after the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics requested help to defend themselves.

Russia is facing heavy pressure from the international community to halt its military operations in Ukraine, which has created a huge humanitarian crisis with thousands of refugees from Ukraine fleeing neighboring countries to the west.
