HDMC health officer Dr Sridhar Dandappanavar told TOI, “These teams will be headed by HDMC health inspectors. Members of these teams will be deployed at both government and private bus terminals, among other places, and those arriving in the twin cities from Kerala and Maharashtra will be asked to view RT-PCR test reports, which are less than 72 hours old. ”
Dr. Dandappanavar said that they were compiling information from both North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and private bus operators on vehicles coming from Maharashtra and Kerala.
He said that about 90% of those who came to Hubballi-Dharwad from Maharashtra and Kerala had RT-PCR test results. “Others are being quarantined and their swab samples are being collected for RT-PCR test, after which they are released. If the test reports prove that they are positive for the novel coronavirus, then treatment will be provided to the infected patients,” said Dr Dandappanavar. More than 10 passengers have been quarantined and their samples have been collected for testing. “We will continue to test all drivers and those coming to the Twin Cities from both these states,” he added.
HDMC sources said buses entering the twin cities from both the states – about 38 of them, including luxury, semi-luxury – were being sanitized thoroughly.
