Rohit Sharma tests positive for Covid-19 in England; The team is currently in isolation in the hotel

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in isolation at the team hotel, the BCCI said in a statement issued on social media in the early hours of Sunday.

Rohit was part of India’s tour game against Leicestershire and scored 25 in the first innings but did not bat on the third day of the tour game.

BCCI tweeted, “Team India captain Rohit Sharma has tested positive for COVID-19 following the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on Saturday, he is currently in isolation at the Team Hotel and BCCI Under the supervision of the medical team.

Without regular opener KL Rahul, along with a groin injury, this latest development is a major setback for India ahead of the 5th Test starting July 1 and the team will be hoping that the captain is on time for the rescheduled Test match.
