Rocket from Jenin fired at Israel, lands in Palestinian territory

A rocket was launched from Israel on Monday morning Jenin region But the explosion occurred in Palestinian territory without striking any Israelis or Israeli targets.

According to the IDF, the rocket did not pose a threat to Israeli communities in the area, although it was unclear whether this was because it did not have the range to hit them or the rocket had other issues.

Israeli security forces arrived at the scene and searched the area, but no arrests have yet been reported.

The incident is under review – IDF

The IDF said the incident was being reviewed, but did not provide more specifics about who carried it out or how similar incidents would be prevented in the future.

The incident follows a more recent incident of a dummy rocket being prepared to potentially fire at Israel, or at least threaten Israel.

This also comes after the Shin Bet director’s recent warning Ronan Bar that Palestinian terrorists were making renewed efforts to obtain rockets in the West Bank and fire them at Israel.

If such terrorist groups succeed, it could represent an entirely new frontier for rocket defense, as Israel’s rocket defense is currently deployed to defend against rockets from Lebanon or Gaza.

The new situation has seen a sharp increase in terror from the Palestinian side over the past week, the use of force by the IDF and retaliatory strike by Jewish West Bank residents.
