About 1243 villages of Uttar Pradesh have been receiving continuous rain, which has led to a massive rise in the water level of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers. Similar situation is coming in front of the people of Bihar.

The water level of Ganga and Yamuna in Prayagraj is fast approaching the danger mark (84.73 metres) and the flood situation in low-lying areas is getting serious. People are migrating to safer places due to water logging in many areas.

The water level of Ganga was recorded at 84.03 meters in Phaphamau and 83.30 meters in Chhatnag on Saturday evening. Similarly, the water level of Yamuna, as recorded at the same time, was 83.88 meters at Naini.

About 23 districts in Uttar Pradesh are facing the wrath of heavy rainfall. Flood waters have entered into several localities such as Ganga Nagar, Nevada, Ashok Nagar, Beli Gaon, parts of Rajapur, Salori, Bada and Chota Baghara, Badra, Sanauti, Daraganj and Nagvasuki.

Due to the continuous increase in the water level of Yamuna, the flood water has reached Baradari on the banks of the river in Baluaghat. Similarly, in Varanasi, the water level of Ganga has increased rapidly and thus crossing the warning level and moving towards the danger mark.

The Yogi Adityanath government had issued an alert in the state last Friday after the water level of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers in UP continued to rise.

Similarly, due to incessant rains in Bihar, the water level of river Ganga in Patna has reached above the danger mark on last Thursday. Krishna Ghat, among other ghats, has also been submerged as the water level continues to rise. The people of the area expressed concern over the situation.

After this, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar visited the areas around the river Ganga on Wednesday and took stock of the situation there. He directed the officials to make effective preparations to deal with the flood situation in the state.
