Rishikesh: Two officers of Noida based firm drowned in Ganga

Two officers of a Noida-based company drowned in the Ganga in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand on Sunday. Kavinder Sajwan, in-charge of SDRF’s deep diving team, said the incident took place when a group of officials of a Noida-based firm making Android applications visited Darshan Mahavidyalaya Ghat in Ram Jhula area.

The company’s center head Rahul Singh (33) had gone to wash his hands in the river when the sand slipped under his feet and lost his balance.

As he was swept away by the strong currents of the Ganges, the firm’s manager Bhanumurthy (33) jumped into the river to save him but he too drowned.

The team of officers had come to Rishikesh on Saturday.

Sajwan said the diving team of SDRF aboard the raft was still scouting the river in search of them.
