Dehradun: On Saturday, January 1, 2022, in Dehradun, people of the Muslim community staged a protest at the police headquarters in protest against the hate speech given in Haridwar Dharma Sansad.

Yeti Narasimhanand, a religious leader, became the second person to be arrested in Haridwar’s ‘Dharma Sansad’ hate speech case. The event called for ‘genocide’ of Muslims and as per reports, Yeti Narasimhananda was a part of it. Earlier, Wasim Rizvi alias Jitendra Tyagi was arrested in this case. He was the former chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Central Shia Waqf Board.

On Friday, a letter was sent to Attorney General of India KK Venugopal seeking consent to initiate contempt proceedings against Narasimhananda over his recent remarks against the Constitution and the Supreme Court of India.

CO City, Haridwar said, “Yeti Narasimhanand has been arrested today in a case related to derogatory remarks against women. There are 2-3 cases registered against him.”

Yeti Narasimhanand along with Sagar Sindhuraj were already part of the FIR registered in this case. After Rizvi was “expelled” from Islam, the former chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board converted to Hinduism last month.

On January 12, the SC had issued notices to Uttarakhand and Delhi Police on a plea seeking an independent probe into the Haridwar Dharma Sansad speeches that allegedly incited violence against the minority community.
