Recap 2021: Sensex highlights of the year
On Friday, the 30-share Sensex closed at 58,253.82 with a gain of 459.50 points or 0.80 per cent on the last trading day of 2021. The index has an annual gain of 10,502.49 points or 21.99 per cent.
Following are the milestones achieved by the Sensex this year.
- October 19: BSE benchmark crosses 62,000 mark in intra-day trade; reached an all-time high of 62,245.43
- 14 October: Crossed 61,000-mark for the first time both in intra-day and close of trade
- September 24: Intra-day and reaches the 60,000-mark at the end of the trade
- September 16: Reached 59,000-mark for the first time both in intra-day and close of trade
- September 3: 58,000-mark in intraday trade and closed above this milestone
- August 31: Crossed 57,000 mark in intra-day trade and also closed above this level
- August 27: Closed above 56,000 mark for the first time
- August 18: Crossed 56,000 mark for the first time in intra-day
- August 13: Rallies above 55,000 for the first time and also closed above this level
- August 4: The benchmark crossed 54,000 for the first time in intra-day trade and also closed above this mark
- 7 July: Closed above 53,000 mark for the first time
- June 22: Reached 53,000 mark in intra-day trade
- February 15: Rallies above 52,000
- February 8: ends above the 51,000-level
- February 5: Crossed 51,000 mark in intra-day trade
- February 3: Closed above 50,000 for the first time
- January 21: The benchmark touched the crucial mark of 50,000 in intra-day trade on January 21, 2021.
