MLA Surjit Dhiman with Navjot Sidhu.

The discord in Punjab Congress is not stopping. Now MLA Surjit Dhiman of the state head Navjot Sidhu faction has again said rebellious words. Dhiman said in a conversation with a channel that in the next assembly elections, the party should make Navjot Sidhu the face of CM. Navjot Sidhu is the head of the party in Punjab. He even said that if Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh takes the lead, he will not contest the elections. This statement has come at a time when the discord in the Congress had cooled for a long time. Sidhu and the Captain faction are insisting on the inside that their leader should be handed over the leadership.

Surjit Dhiman is an MLA from Amargarh. Dhiman is close to Sidhu. He was also involved in the rebellion to remove Captain Amarinder Singh from the CM’s chair. After this, Dhiman was also among those who met Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat in Dehradun. This rebellion was suppressed by the Congress high command but the Sidhu faction still did not miss to target the Captain. However, after getting a clear signal from the high command, the Captain is busy running the government.

Congress in a dilemma over Punjab’s leadership

Who will lead the Congress in the next vis election in Punjab? The tussle over this continues. This is the reason why the statement of Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat led by Captain created a lot of ruckus. Pargat Singh, a close aide of Sidhu and now the general secretary of the organization, had raised questions on Rawat’s right to take decisions. Rawat had to retreat. He later chimed in by saying that he had several leaders in Punjab, including Sidhu and even Pargat Singh, besides the Captain, who could take the lead.

Rawat, who called the Captain-Sidhu feud beneficial

Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat has given an interesting statement regarding the quarrel between Captain and Sidhu in Congress. Rawat had said that the fight between these two would be a plus for the Congress. However, it was targeted by opponents. He said that amidst the tussle between Captain and Sidhu, Congress wants to hide the failures of its government. All this is an election script written by Congress political strategist Prashant Kishor.
