LUDHIANA: The resentment amongst the real estate developers and property dealers against the state government not fulfilling their demands does not seem to die down. In the latest development, dozens of businessmen into the realty sector on Tuesday staged a massive protest at mini secretariat against the government.
Businessmen tried to get into the office of deputy commissioner along with the banners and black flags but they were not allowed to do so by the police.
Meanwhile, a delegation of businessmen met the DC and gave memorandum of their demands and during their interaction with the mediapersons they said that this was their final ultimatum to the state government and in case their demands are not accepted they will not let any registry take place in any district.
Giving more information, Gurwinder Singh Lamba, president of Punjab Colonisers and Property Dealers Association said, “It is very sad that despite our repeated requests to the state government and chief minister Bhagwant Mann to listen and resolve our grievances, nothing has been done so far. This was least expected from party like Aam Admi Party (AAP) which the real estate sector bizmen supported by all means to come into power in Punjab so that the situation could change for us. But it is unfortunate that the business conditions for real estate sector have gone to all time worst ever and the realty business has fully stopped”
Lamba also added, “The two major demands of property dealers and real estate developers of Punjab include reversing the decision of making NOC mandatory for registry and reducing the collector rates which have been hiked exorbitantly. Besides this, the FIRs on the businessmen into property dealing should also be cancelled with immediate effect. Today’s protest of ours was just a trailer for the state government and also a final warning from our side to accept our demand, failing which we will have to take some tough decisions including not to let any registry take place in any district in Punjab and sitting on indefinite dharnas outside the registry offices”
