RBI officers, employees plan agitation regarding wage revision

Reserve Bank of India officials and employees are on an agitation path from today (Tuesday) as their “several attempts” to restart talks on their long-pending wage settlement issue have failed time and again.

Samir Ghosh, Arun Samaddar, Gavin Coelho and Jeet Pathak, who represent the employees, workers, said, “We have the right to protest the unnecessary delay on a highly sensitive matter like wage revision pending for the last four years or more. There is no other option.” and the Officers’ Association under the United Forum of Officers and Employees of the Reserve Bank.

‘wait in vain’

The United Forum told constituents in a circular that “we felt very strongly to start the protest at first, but out of respect to the wishes of some good friends, decided to hold off en masse till this week. We were scheduled to hold talks with the Human Resource Management department and we were looking forward to a solution emerging.”

“Our wait is in vain, unfortunately,” the circular said. After exhausting all avenues for a peaceful resolution, it has been decided that the delegation of Joint Officers/Executive Committee, RBI during lunch break today (Tuesday) to demand resumption of the process of finalization of wage negotiations. meeting with the regional directors of

mass holiday

The lunch-time gate demonstration will be launched on Thursday and officers and staff will wear the badges from November 23 to 26. On November 26, the lunch-time group deputation will be taken out in the offices of the Regional Directors / Officers-in-Charge.

It has been said in the circular that all employees covered under the existing wage settlement will go on mass casual leave on November 30.

A senior retired RBI official said that though the employees and employees have goodwill in the name of RBI, they have had to struggle at different times for fair and respectable pay revision or other service conditions.

Pensioners have the most trouble

“Since September 2008, these conflicts have been more marked, persistent and regrettable, as the bank’s independence even in employee matters was delegated to outside authorities,” he said on condition of anonymity.

It is ironic that the day the Prime Minister dedicated some of the RBI’s functions to the nation, an agitational program had to be announced for the payment of fair and dignified wages to the employees.

The retired official said that pensioners and family pensioners suffer more as their counterparts in government institutions have benefited far more.
