In a shocking incident, 12 liquor bottles kept at the government-run TASMAC liquor shop in a town near Gudalur, about 80 km from Udhagamandalam in the Nilgiris district, have been emptied by rats. The incident came to light when TASMAC employees on Monday opened the shop in Kadampuzha, which was kept closed for a long time due to the lockdown.

Official sources said they found 12 quarters of liquor bottles’ caps open, with rat bite marks and empty liquor.

He said that on receiving the information, the supervisor and senior officials of TASMAC conducted an investigation, which revealed the presence of rats inside the shop.

He told that the cost of the bottles is being told around Rs 1500.
