Ratna Pathak Shah is known for speaking her mind. The veteran actress has never been at a loss for words to talk about the double standards in the film fraternity or criticize those in power. Similarly, when she was at an event recently, Shah chose to share her opinion about SS Rajamouli’s RRR, the pan-India film which turned out to be a huge box office success.

“Films like RRR are very popular today. But it is a regressive film. It looks backwards whereas we should be looking forward. We think whatever we are doing is good because we are the mother of democracy – India. part.Until filmmakers don’t see their work being taken seriously, we have to see films like RRR.But we don’t like criticism.Our ego gets hurt,this environment is created by such bigots and unfortunately , we have accepted it,” DNA India quoted the actress as saying.

RRR has been a phenomenal success. ‘RRR’, Rajamouli’s first project after the 2017 blockbuster ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’, was released worldwide in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam simultaneously in early March this year. The film has earned over Rs 1,200 crore worldwide, with the film receiving an overwhelming response in several countries including the US and Japan. Not just the box office but Rajamouli’s epic multi-starrer ‘RRR’ is literally ruling the world, if the recognition coming its way is any indication. Among others, the film won the first New York Film Critics Circle Award. Most recently, ‘RRR’ won nominations for two Golden Globe Awards. The makers are also eyeing the Oscars.

Set in the 1920s, ‘RRR’ is a fictional story based on two revolutionaries who fought against the British Raj – Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr. NTR respectively. The film also stars Bollywood stars Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt,
