Left-arm spinner Akash Pandey claimed a career-best six-wicket haul in the first innings, riding on a dangerous spell from Himanshu Sangwan as Railways thrashed hosts Gujarat by an innings and 56 runs in their Ranji Trophy Group D match, here on Thursday.

Medium pacer Sangwan was mainly destructive in his first innings as Railways bowled out the home side for 208 in 59.1 overs in the first innings.

After this, Gujarat’s second innings was reduced to 247 runs in 69.3 overs and Pandey wreaked havoc this time. Sangwan got the first breakthrough by dismissing Aditya Patel in the first innings.

Gujarat were soon reduced to 33/2 inside 10 overs, but then skipper Het Patel rebuilt the innings with a fighting century before a double strike from Karn Sharma derailed the home side.
