Rajinikanth’s family, his wife Latha and daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth were also present on the occasion.

After receiving the honour, Rajinikanth thanked the central government. “I am extremely happy to receive this most prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. My thanks to the Honorable Central Government. I dedicate this award to my mentor, my mentor K. Balachander. At this very moment, I thank him and my brother Satyanarayan. I remember with gratitude. Gaikwad who is like my father, who brought me up by teaching me great values, and spirituality. Raj Bahadur, my friend, bus transport driver and my colleague in Karnataka.

He remembered his days of struggle. “When I was a bus conductor, he identified the acting talent in me and encouraged me to join cinema. Rajinikanth’s son-in-law Dhanush has also won the Best Actor award for the Tamil film Asuran. He shared the award with Manoj Bajpayee, who was awarded for his film ‘Bhonsle’. On the other end, Kangana Ranaut She was awarded the Best Actress Award for her performances in Hindi films ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ and ‘Panga’.
