It’s been a week since a 35-year-old Dalit laborer was allegedly abducted, held captive and tortured at a cattle shed in Rajasthan’s Bundi district, and the accused are yet to be arrested. A senior police officer said on Sunday that two teams have been formed to nab the accused.
According to a complaint filed by Radheshyam Meghwal on May 24, she was abducted by Paramjit Singh and five others on May 22, taken to her home in Alpha Nagar, chained in the shade of a cattle and He was tortured for about 31 hours until his younger brother freed him. , Police said that money dispute is behind the incident.
Meghwal, a resident of Biluba village under Talera police station area of the district, was hired by Singh at his farmhouse three years ago with an advance payment of Rs 70,000. Meghwal then borrowed Rs 30,000 from Singh for his sister’s wedding. Meghwal said he had paid Rs 50,000 and worked at Singh’s farmhouse for 10 days without any payment and could not pay the rest. However, Singh later claimed that Meghwal owed him Rs 1,10,000 and pressured him to return the amount.
Singh, his brother and four others kidnap Meghwal to get the money back. According to the complaint lodged with the police, they chained her to a cattle shed, tortured her and did not give her any food and water. Later Meghwal’s brother paid Singh some money and freed his brother. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shankar Lal said that based on the complaint of the laborer, the police have registered a case against Singh and five others under relevant sections of the IPC and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The police officer said that efforts are on to nab the accused.
