Rain leaves Delhi-NCR regions battered, road submerge, traffic halts

The rains threw normal life out of gear in the city and commuters faced trouble in reaching their destinations due to water-logging.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in many parts of the country including Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh till July 9.

In Northwest India, moderate to heavy rain is very likely over the region during next five days.

Light to moderate rain may occur over central India during next two days and it will reduce.

Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over southern parts especially Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. On July 7, the IMD said that the ongoing intense rainfall over the west coast especially Konkan, Goa and Gujarat is expected to subside from today.

Heavy rains lashed Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and its surrounding areas leading to water-logging in many parts of the region. The Metrological Department had earlier issued a yellow alert and predicted heavy rain on Saturday.

The IMD said on Saturday, “Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh have been warned of heavy rains from July 8 to 9. Be prepared for intense rains and take necessary precautions.”

The minimum temperature in the national capital dropped a notch to 26.5 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 30 degree Celsius on Saturday.
