Telangana Weather AlertHyderabad Meteorological Center officials said that the state would receive heavy rains for the next two days. The Met Office warned that floods could occur in many areas and issued a ‘red alert’ for eight districts of the state.

The weather office said in its alert that very heavy to very heavy rains are likely over Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Mancherial, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Adilabad and adjoining districts. Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Northeast and Northwest districts.

IMD Hyderabad said that during the next 2 days, most parts of Telangana are expected to receive rain.

The Met Office has also warned that there is a possibility of flooding at many places with waterlogging and overflow of drainage in North-North-West, North-East districts and urban areas. The IMD said an impact weather forecast has already been issued.

Agriculture lines feared to be submerged in water, Meteorological Department alert

IMD’s Meteorological Center here said that Navipet in Nizamabad district received 23 cm of rain. The rains led to water-logging in low-lying areas, while tanks were flooded in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts.

CM instructed officials to be alert

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao directed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to alert all concerned departments and take prompt security measures in view of incessant rains in the state. Following the red alert in Telangana and Maharashtra also, the Chief Minister said that he would review the situation from time to time and also hold video conference today (Saturday) or tomorrow (Sunday), an official release said. Appealing to the people to avoid taking risks in such weather, he appealed to the public not to come out of their homes unless there is an emergency and take precautions.
