Chennai: In view of the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal and warning of heavy rain, the Tamil Nadu government has declared Wednesday and Thursday local holidays in schools and colleges in nine districts.
According to a government order issued by Public Secretary D Jagannathan on Tuesday, schools and colleges in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpet, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Thanjavuri , Thiruvarur And mayiladuthurai Districts were given local holidays.
In view of the heavy rains, the state government had already declared holiday for schools and colleges in Chennai and three other districts on Monday and Tuesday.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in the northern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.
