Rahul Gandhi’s Wayanad office vandalized, Congress accuses SFI

Kerala: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s office at Kainaty near Kalpetta was vandalized on Friday, allegedly by students’ Federation of India (SFI) workers. The Indian Youth Congress in a tweet alleged that “goons grabbed SFI flags” and vandalized the wall of Rahul Gandhi’s Wayanad office. The protest march of the ruling CPI(M)’s student wing SFI against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi turned violent as a group of protesters allegedly entered the Lok Sabha member’s office and ransacked it. The student organizations were opposing the creation of a buffer zone around the forests in the hilly areas of Kerala.

“It happened in the presence of police. This is a clear conspiracy by the CPM leadership. He (Rahul Gandhi) has been questioned by the ED for the last five days, after that I don’t know why the CPI(M) is going to Kerala. The way Narendra Modi attacked them. I think Sitaram Yekuri will take necessary action.”

“I think CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury will take necessary action,” Venugopal said. Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the attack on Rahul Gandhi’s office in Wayanad.

CM Vijayan said, “There is democratic protest and freedom to express one’s opinion in our country. But going in the direction of attacks is a wrong trend. The government will take strict action against the accused.”
