Ludhiana: two fire incidents kept Fire Fighting On Toes In the district headquarter city of Ludhiana Punjab Saturday morning.
There was no report of any casualties.
One incident took place at a tire manufacturing plant while the other happened at a hosiery unit.
The fire was first reported at around 4.25 am at the Hindustan Tires plant at RK Road near Oswal Hospital.
According to the security staff of the factory, the fire started at around 3.45 pm due to a short circuit, which spread the fire to the surrounding areas.
The flames engulfed the machinery kept on the ground floor and the material kept on the first floor of the unit.
The second incident took place around 6 am in the hosiery unit located at Kripal Nagar on Tibba Road.
The fire started on the first floor of the two-storey building and hosiery items were gutted.
According to fire officials, the single entry into the building made it difficult for firefighters to douse the fire, so they had to break down the wall of another building behind this unit.
The unit was located in a densely populated area, so firefighters were extra careful while controlling the situation.
The fire was brought under control after two hours of effort.
sub-fire officer Maninder Singh | “The shed of the unit got damaged due to the strong flames and collapsed before we could reach the spot. Eight fire tenders were stationed at the spot, out of which two were shifted to another fire spot,” said.
