Happy Bhushanji chose to make a biopic: Saroj Khan’s kids on T-Series’ announcement on film

Mumbai: The story of struggle, story of success, story of India’s first female choreographer will be brought to life by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. T-Series, one of India’s leading production houses, has acquired the rights to produce the biopic of veteran choreographer Saroj Khan.

Nirmala Kishanchand Sadhu Singh Nagpal aka Saroj Khan, who shone in Bollywood with her dance choreography, was known for her many successful songs, mostly in the 80s and 90s. In a career spanning nearly 50 years, he has worked with many top actors and produced some of the industry’s most celebrated dance sequences.

Bhushan Kumar recently acquired the rights to his life story from Saroj Khan’s children Raju Khan, Sukaina Khan and Hina Khan’s daughters.

As Bollywood’s first female choreographer, Saroj Khan was one of the few women who worked behind the camera at a time when almost all technicians were men. The pioneer she became, Saroj Khan, joined the industry when she was 3 years old to become a dancer at the age of 10 and soon became an assistant choreographer at the age of 12. Choreographed for around 3500 songs over the span of his career. Saroj Khan gave us many hit dance songs like ‘Ek Do Teen’, ‘Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai’, ‘Hawa Hawai’, ‘Dhak Dhak Karne Laga’ in movies like Devdas, Lamhe, Nagina, Kalank, Chandni, Saawariya. , Taal, Beta, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and many more. The 3-time National Award winning choreographer, known for his collaborations with Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi, also worked with several millennial actors.

Bhushan Kumar says, “Sarojji not only enthralled the audience with his dance moves with the cast, but he also revolutionized the choreography scene in Hindi cinema. His dance forms told stories that helped every filmmaker. She brought the audience to the theaters who saw their favorite actors dancing on her footsteps. Sarojji’s journey which started at the young age of 3 years has been full of ups and downs and the success and respect that she got from the industry has to be brought alive. I remember going with my father on film sets and making him live in songs with his choreography. His dedication to the arts was commendable. I am glad that Sukaina and Raju have agreed to make us a biopic on her mother.”

Raju Khan, himself a choreographer, says, “My mother loved dancing and we all saw how she dedicated her life to it. I am glad that I followed in his footsteps. My mother is loved and respected by the industry and it is an honor for us, her family that the world can see her story. I am glad that Bhushanji has decided to make a biopic on the beautiful Saroj Khan.”

Sukaina Khan says, “My mother was loved and respected by the entire industry, but we have seen her struggle and fight closely to be who she was. We hope that with this biopic, Bhushan ji will share his story, We will be able to tell his love for him, his passion for dance and his love for his actors and respect for the profession with this biopic.”

Saroj Khan who passed away last year worked with Madhuri Dixit in Kalank and also became a popular face on television as a judge on dance shows like Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
