Punjab Government launches Telegram channel to provide information about job openings

Punjab Government has launched a new Telegram channel to inform educated unemployed youth about the job opportunities available in the state, ongoing placement camps and job fairs. The channel will also broadcast information about various skill development programs and coaching facilities for competitive exams for government jobs, a leading news agency reported.

Launching the channel Yashwant Rai, Deputy Director, District Employment and Enterprises Bureau, Jalandhar said that the channel will inform the job aspirants about the information shared by the agency. Anyone can join the channel and get regular updates about what’s new in the job market. This is likely to help the job aspirants in searching for new opportunities and information related to it.

In its first cabinet meeting, the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab announced Recruitment of 25,000 posts in various departments Including 10,000 vacancies in State Police. Addressing the state after the first cabinet meeting, the CM, in a video message, had said that the jobs would be given on the basis of merit and there would be no discrimination or favoritism in the recruitment process.

The Punjab government had also announced to regularize the services of over 35,000 Group C and D employees. During the campaign for the state assembly elections held in February this year, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had promised to regularize the services of contractual employees if voted to power.

Mann said he has directed the chief secretary and other officials to stop the practice of hiring employees on contract basis or through outsourcing. “It is surprising that there are no teachers in schools, but qualified teachers are protesting against the government for not regularizing their services,” Mann said, adding that such teachers would be adjusted against the vacant posts. , which will be done before new jobs are created. The bill to regularize contractual employees is likely to be introduced in the next session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly.
