Daniel Sams had a memorable outing against IPL 2022 as he bowled one of the most expensive overs in the history of the league on Wednesday night. Sams, who is representing Mumbai Indians this season, was hit by Kolkata Knight Riders’ Pat Cummins for a total of 35 runs in the same over with four sixes and two fours – the third costliest over in IPL history.

Cummins’ attack resulted in KKR winning the target of 162 runs by five wickets in 16 overs – their second of the season. However, this was his third straight loss for MI and some users on Instagram started posting derogatory comments on one of Sams’ posts.
Sams, a left-arm pacer, finished with figures of 1/50 in three overs as Cummins equaled the record for the joint-fastest fifty in the IPL – taking just 14 deliveries to reach the milestone.
He said, ‘It will be difficult to digest, as it turned out in the last few overs. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us,” a disappointed MI captain Rohit Sharma said in the post-match presentation.
Cummins himself, who was adjudged player of the match, was surprised by the innings. “I probably think I’m most surprised by that innings. I’m glad it turned out. I was wondering if it was a swing in my zone. Wasn’t trying to overthrow it. This season It’s quite satisfying to do that in my first game in the world. Just trying to hit short boundaries,” he said.
