Punjab: 3 hired for targeted killings in Punjab held in Sonipat | Gurgaon News – Times of India

ROHTAK: Hours before Punjab polls, the Haryana police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three persons linked to Khalistani organizations who were given a contract to carry out targeted killings in Punjab.
Sonipat SSP Rahul Sharma told media persons that they have arrested the three persons from Jua village.
Police recovered an AK-47 rifle, three foreign-made pistols and live cartridges from them.
Police have booked Sagar alias Binny, the kingpin, Sunil alias Pehalwan and Jatin alias Rajesh of Sonipat district under various sections of UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act besides 120B (criminal conspiracy) and the Arms Act.
According to police, the accused received sums amounting to Rs 5-7 lakh in their accounts from terrorist organizations and were in touch with their heads — Gurjant Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Lakhbir Singh Rode and Hardeep Singh — through social media.
SSP Rahul Sharma said that the accused have confessed that they had killed one Avtar Singh of Punjab’s Ropar area on December 8 upon getting contract from terrorist organizations and were waiting to attempt one more such killing in Mohali,
SSP Sharma said they had acted on inputs from Punjab Police that some people in Sonipat who have criminal records are in touch with terrorists with base in Australia and Canada. The accused would be produced in court and their custody sought.
