Channi: Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi, Sidhu Moosewala booked for campaigning post 6pm | Amritsar News – Times of India

BATHINDA: A case has been registered against chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Congress candidate and singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, better known as Sidhu Moosewala, for violation model code of conduct. They were campaigning in Mansa even after 6pm on Friday, the time limit set for all canvassing to stop, police said.
The case has been registered at Police Station City 1 Mansa, under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (for disobedience) on the complaint of Aam Aadmi Party candidate Vijay Singla. The punishment under the offense is simple imprisonment for up to one month.
Moosewala is contesting from Mansa assembly segment. Earlier in the day, he accompanied Channi in a roadshow at Bhadaur from where the CM is contesting.
In the evening, Channi turned up in Mansa to campaign for Moosewala. As per the complaint, both along with 400/500 persons were going from door-to-door even after 6pm when the campaigning had officially ended. The election observer too was present and recorded the violation. A complaint was later made to Mansa district election officer.
