Puneet Rajkumar fans celebrate power star’s last film as James releases on his birth anniversary

Late Kannada power star Puneeth Rajkumar’s last film James was released posthumously on Thursday, March 17. Today is also his birth anniversary. Celebrations were held in several theaters across Karnataka as fans of the star were excited to see him on screen. Though the news of his death has left a huge void in the hearts of his fans, they could not stop themselves from being happy when they saw Appu on screen. Confetti was thrown around and the audience refused to sit as a tribute to the late actor.

In the film, Puneet plays the role of Santosh, a security agent who leads a squad to dismantle a mafia operation. In the teaser, he is introduced as someone who is known for his instincts and intuition. An exchange between the villain and Puneet concludes the teaser. When the former insisted, “My opponents have no winning record,” Puneet replied that he is known to break such records.

Puneet’s brother Shivrajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar have made cameos in Gems. Puneet Rajkumar’s voice in the film was dubbed by his brother Shiv Rajkumar.

Puneeth Rajkumar, fondly called Appu by his fans, died of a heart attack on October 29 at Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru. At that time he was 46 years old.
