PUNE : Appointment of advocates to fight the case related to the development plan of 23 villages merged in the district Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has become a matter of conflict between the ruling BJP and opposition parties.
The BJP, which passed a resolution to appoint advocates on behalf of the civic body, was criticized by opposition parties, including Congress And NCP. He claimed that the BJP was misusing public money. The BJP backed his move and insisted that the appointment was valid and morally correct.
“The writ petitions have made the Mayor of Pune one of the parties. Since he is the head of the civic body, it is the responsibility of the PMC to provide legal aid to him. It is the duty of the administration to represent and forward the civic body. Keep it up. Consideration of the matter in court. But we are not getting cooperation from the civil administration including the commissioner’s office.” Ganesh Bidkari Leader of the House in PMC
Congress leader in PMC Aba Bagul said that “appointment of lawyers for these cases was a waste of public money”.
The draft Development Plan (DP) for the 23 villages merged in the Pune Municipal Corporation limits will be prepared by the PMRDA. The state government had issued a notification regarding this. The state order stated that the PMRDA would act as a “special planning authority” for the DP.
But a group of BJP leaders has opposed the appointment and approached the court against it. The mayor is one of the parties in this matter. The matter is in Bombay High Court.
