Karaikal: PMK was hacked by a gang of armed men on Friday night Karaikal District General Secretary K Devmani passed away at Tirunallar in Karaikal district.

PMK workers and his relatives took Devmani to Karaikal Government Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Karaikal SP KL Viravallabane said Devmani had allowed Mani and his mother to stay at the property owned by them after they were forcibly evicted by their relative. Mani was also helping Devmani in his political and business activities. Over time, Mani left Devmani, following which the PMK functionary asked him and his mother to vacate their property.
After Mani refused to leave the house, Devmani started building a fence around it, leading to a bitter duel. The matter even reached the court after which Mani allegedly decided to eliminate Devmani. Police have detained him and one of his associates for questioning.
