PSPCL: Development work affected due to non-payment of subsidy to PSPCL: Power Engineers to Punjab Govt. Ludhiana News – Times of India

Patiala: Due to non-payment of subsidy, serious economic crisis has arisen. PSPCL And the financial constraints have already been reflected in the shortage of required materials, delays in payments to suppliers and contractors, and thus hindering development works.
The Power Engineers Association has said this to the state government as well as the chairman. co-management director Punjab State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (PSPCL).
In a letter to the CMD of PSPCL and the officials of the State Government PSEB Engineers Association Claimed that due to non-payment of grants etc., regular development work and new generation plants are not being executed at the departmental level.
Due to financial constraints, PSPCL is unable to infuse equity in new projects. Even the payment of retired employees has been delayed.
PSBEA General Secretary Ajaypal Singh Atwal | said that PSERC Rs 17,800 crore has been worked out as subsidy for the current financial year and around Rs 10,284 crore was payable by the end of October 2021.
However, only Rs 5,647 crore has been paid and as on date the default amount is Rs 4,637 crore.
He said that now, the PSPCL management has waived off arrears of Rs 1,500 crore of defaulting consumers and is contemplating to implement reduction in tariff resulting in further loss of Rs 3,300 crore on the instructions of the Punjab government.
Apart from this, electricity bills of about Rs 2000 crore of state government departments are also pending.
Atwal said the decision of the PSPCL management to allow this new subsidy of Rs 4,800 crore, which is not part of the tariff order, without the approval of the PSERC regarding the mode of payment of the subsidy, is a serious violation of the Electricity Act 2003. .
He said that the tariff is based on the ARR of PSPCL and the commitment of the Punjab Government to provide subsidy to various sections of the consumers.
