People had paid tribute by reaching the funeral of 14 people killed in the violence.

On December 4, 14 tribals had lost their lives in the army firing in Mon district of Nagaland. There is a lot of anger among the people of eastern Nagaland regarding these killings. On this issue, the tribals of 5 eastern districts of Nagaland on Wednesday talked of boycotting all national festivals.

The Eastern Naga People’s Organization (ENPO) said the agitation would continue till the victims of Oting village get justice. ENPO has demanded withdrawal of Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement in Parliament. In the Parliament, the Home Minister had said that the Para-Commandos of the Army had opened fire on the villagers in self-defense.

The ENPO organization represents tribal communities such as Konyaks, Phoms, Changs, Khiamnyungans, Yimchungs and Sangtams. People are paying tribute to the tribals who lost their lives at different places in Nagaland.

The army signaled a vehicle to stop, the commandos suspecting that it was carrying extremists. 21 commandos started firing. 7 died in this firing. In protest against the incident, people surrounded the commandos and started setting fire to the vehicles. A young man died. 7 more people were killed in the firing done to handle the crowd.

At the same time, Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio and Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma have demanded from Home Minister Amit Shah that the AFSPA law should be removed from the states. The special thing is that Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio belongs to the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland Party, which has an alliance with the BJP in the state.
