Prophet comment line: The demolition drive continued on Sunday at the illegally built residence of Javed Ahmed, the alleged mastermind of the Prayagraj violence. The violence took place against Nupur Sharma’s objectionable remarks against Prophet Mohammad.

Bulldozers were used by Prayagraj Development Authority for action in Prayagraj within the ambit of law and in heavy police presence, informed Prashant Kumar, ADG, Law and Order, UP Police.

The development comes a day after illegal properties of two persons accused of rioting in Saharanpur were bulldozed, leading to stone pelting on Friday.

A senior PDA official said, “Javed Ahmed’s house – JK Ashiana – is located in Kareli area of Prayagraj. Police personnel and a JCB machine reached Kareli police station around 10.30 am and the demolition started around 1 pm.”

He said, ‘The house was built without passing the map from the PDA. For this, a notice was issued to him on 10 May and was asked to present his side on 24 May. Neither Javed nor his lawyer came on the given date. No document was also submitted, and hence on May 25, demolition orders were issued,” he said.

Superintendent of Police (city) Dinesh Kumar Singh said, “In the morning some members of Javed Ahmed’s family gathered some of their belongings and left through the back door. No one is inside the house yet.”

He said three machines, including two JCBs, were used for the demolition. Singh said the area around the house was cordoned off before the demolition began.

Ajay Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Prayagraj said that the estimated value of Ahmed’s house, which was demolished as per rules, is Rs 5 crore.

Meanwhile, the UP Police has arrested around 306 people in connection with the incidents of June 10.

Around 13 policemen who were injured in the clash are being treated. The situation is normal across the state. Social media is also being monitored: Prashant Kumar said.

Meanwhile, the Kanpur Development Authority has sealed a property of Haji Vashi, which used to fund the main accused in the Kanpur conflict, Hayat Zafar Hashmi. Besides, the involvement of two builders Salim and HS Malik is also being probed.

Kanpur Police said that the authority has sealed three buildings belonging to them in Chaman Ganj and Becon Ganj areas.
