Prominent Tamil director alleges Ashwin caused him financial loss

A prominent director of the Tamil film industry has alleged that the cooking reality show Kooko With Komali fame actor caused him financial loss.

The director, on condition of anonymity, alleged that Ashwin booked a five-star hotel to meet him and finalize the script of a film, but the actor did not turn up.

Actor Ashwin Kumar Lakshmikantan, who was in news recently for his remark of ‘taking a nap while narrating the script’, has courted a new controversy. Now, a prominent director of the Tamil film industry has alleged that the cooking reality show Kooko With Komali fame actor caused him financial loss. The director, on condition of anonymity, alleged that Ashwin booked a five-star hotel to meet him and finalize the script of a film, but the actor did not turn up.

“A production company asked me to meet Ashwin to finalize it for a film. Ashwin asked me to book a room in a premier five star hotel in Chennai. The production company booked a room in a hotel but it didn’t come.

“Ashwin’s absence has caused resentment to me and others who went to the hotel in the morning and were waiting for him. Then we asked why he didn’t come, he told us that he was in no mood to meet anyone that day,” said the director.

Earlier this month, Ashwin courted controversy during the song launch of his Tamil debut Tamil film Anna Sola Pogirai in Chennai. During the song launch event, he said that he agreed to do Hariharan-directed Ana Sola Pogirai as he was ‘waking through the narration’.

He claimed that he had to turn down ’40 films’ earlier because he had stopped halfway through the narrative. Later, the actor clarified his statement that he was “absolutely nervous” as it was his first major event.

Commenting on his statement dozing through 40 scripts, Ashwin said, “I shouldn’t have taken equal liberties on stage.”
