Private bus falls into ditch in Kullu: 16 killed including school children, 8 seriously injured; Accident happened on Shanshar road in Sainj valley

A private bus has crashed after falling into a 200-metre deep gorge on Shainshar Marg in the Sainj Valley of Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district. 16 people, including school children, are reported to have died in the accident, while 8 people are said to be injured, who are being treated at Sanch PHC.

According to the information received, the accident happened at around 8.45 am on Monday morning. About 30 people were on the bus at the time of the accident. The rescue team reached the spot as soon as the accident was reported. Police and administration officials also reached the spot. People were taken out of the ditch through 108 ambulances and taken to the hospital.

According to the information received, the private bus HP 30A 0646 coming from Shainshar to Sainj fell off the road near Jangla village. Transport Minister Vikram Singh Thakur has expressed deep grief over the accident and ordered the officials to investigate immediately. Expressing his condolences to the people killed in the bus accident, the minister said that the government will not spare whoever is found guilty in the investigation report. The government has asked the officials to regularly check the vehicles, passing from time to time and also check the licenses of the bus drivers. The minister has ordered the officers to submit the investigation report at the earliest, so that the exact cause of the accident can be known.

On Kullu bus accident, when Dainik Bhaskar asked the minister whether he would resign from the post on moral grounds, the minister said that what is his fault in this. Whether the driver was driving the bus wrong or there was any technical defect in the bus, next action will be taken only after the investigation report is received. It is so clear that if any officer has been wrong in the inquiry report, then he will not be spared.

Aam Aadmi Party supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has expressed grief by tweeting about the Kullu accident. He wrote in the tweet that the bus accident in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh is very unfortunate. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the accident. I pray to the Lord for everyone’s well being. I appeal to all the local workers of AAP to extend all possible cooperation to the administration to help the people affected in the accident.
