An incident came to light involving Dong, a 40-year-old mother of two, who lost her temper and got frustrated when her child struggled and couldn’t understand a math problem. Suddenly she started experiencing a severe headache followed by vomiting. Despite trying to rest, Dong’s condition didn’t improve, and she had to seek medical help. After tests, she was diagnosed with Spontaneous Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, a minor stroke caused by stress. This worrying trend highlights the toll that concerns about their children’s future can take on parents.

When Was The First Time Parents Faced This In China?

In 2019, there was a report about a 36-year-old woman who experienced a heart attack due to stress while teaching math to her son. This incident was not that usual at that time. However, later after a year, a similar story came up involving a 45-year-old Chinese man. Since then, there have been many cases of parents suffering strokes and heart attacks while helping their children complete homework.

Women Are More Likely To Face This Issue

Health experts have noted that women are more likely to face such health issues because they often live with constant stress and anxiety from work, household responsibilities, and other pressures. Therefore, helping their children with homework adds a lot more to their already existing workload.
