Chennai: In a rare display of political affiliation, AIADMK allies, including BJP, attended an event presided over by the President Ram Nath KovindFormer Chief Minister M. to unveil the picture of Karunanidhi In Tamil Nadu Assembly building on Monday.

The President credited the Tamil Nadu legislature for nurturing the roots of democracy by focusing on governance to uplift the poor and remove social evils. He praised the late DMK patriarch Karunanidhi, saying that his “entire life was dedicated to the people of the state” and that he had left a defining mark on Tamil Nadu.
“It would not be wrong to say that this legislature became the source of many progressive laws, which were later replicated across the country to empower the weaker sections of the society and strengthen democracy,” Kovind said.
