Preparing for by-polls, attacking Nitish and resolving the dispute: Lalu Prasad insists on rebuilding RJD

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav is back in Bihar politics after recovering from his illness in New Delhi after being released on bail in April this year in fodder scam cases. Lalu has already geared up for the by-elections to be held on two seats in the state and will address people in Kusheshwar Asthan and Tarapur.

Two days after arriving in Patna following his illness, the RJD supremo indicated his preference for the younger son, attacked CM Nitish Kumar and also spoke of an alliance with the Congress.

Amid strained relations between the two sons- Tej Pratap and Tejashwi over the party leadership, Lalu Prasad expressed confidence in the leadership of his younger son Tejashwi and also lauded him for ‘handling the party well in his absence’.

“The way Tejashwi handled the party in my absence was beyond my expectations. Lalu Prasad Yadav told ANI that along with my son, every worker of the party worked hard and made RJD the single largest party in the last assembly elections.

“I know Tejashwi is campaigning for the bypolls in both the constituencies and is doing really well, giving a tough fight to the NDA. I will ensure their immersion.”

Lalu said the RJD would have been in power in the Bihar assembly elections where the BJP alliance had won by a narrow margin last year. “But the current ruling NDA alliance in the state cheated to gain power,” Lalu told ANI.

Lalu also said that he has managed to come back and will campaign for two by-poll seats. “I was unwell and in custody due to which I missed two elections, but now the by-elections are going on and I have managed to come back because of the love of the people. On October 27, I will address the public in the by-election seats Kusheshwar Asthan and Tarapur.

on Congress alliance

Lalu Prasad Yadav said that Congress is an old party which is present in the whole country and the main role should be of Congress.

“…the main role should be of the Congress. Has anyone helped the Congress more than us… It is an old party, an all India party, we still consider them as such..,” the RJD chief said. said.

However, the statement came after the RJD refused to allow the Congress to contest the bypolls, straining the ties between the two parties.

However, on the question of alliance with Congress, he said, “Alliance is made of like-minded people, secular forces. At the state level also, we have an alliance with Congress, Left and other parties… let the people have a say,” he told ANI.

The RJD chief also took a jibe at CM Nitish Kumar, saying, “Nitish Kumar has been appreciated by PM Modi and BJP. Everyone was raising slogans of “Desh ka PM kaise ho nitish kumar jaisa ho”. He was being called PM material… such arrogance and greed.”
