Preparations to fight Hurricane Jawad in PHOTOS: 54 thousand people were evacuated from 3 districts of Andhra, appeal to go to safer places in Odisha

Cyclone Jawad formed in the Bay of Bengal will hit the northern coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on Saturday morning. 11 NDRF, 5 SDRF, 6 Coast Guard, 10 Marine Police teams have been deployed in 3 districts of Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. So far, about 54 thousand people have been evacuated from the low-lying areas of the three districts.

247 teams of ODRAF, NDRF and State Fire Service have been deployed in Odisha. About 20 teams have been kept in reserve. People are not ready to come out of their homes in most of the districts, it is likely that people will be evacuated from the affected areas tomorrow.

Jawad is very likely to hit the southern coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on Sunday morning. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted winds of up to 100 kmph during this period. 46 teams of NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) have been deployed in Odisha, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. At the same time, instructions have also been issued by the state governments to take precautions.

Due to the storm in Puri, Odisha, it is raining continuously and strong winds are blowing.

In Odisha’s Gajapati district, the district administration has made preparations to deal with the Jawad.

Fishermen have been banned from entering the sea in Puri.

People have been asked to move to safer places in view of the possibility of heavy rains.

SDRF is preparing rescue boats to take people to safer places.

It has been raining continuously in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. Winds are blowing at a speed of 50 kmph in some areas.

Ambulances are also ready to take medical facilities to the affected areas.
