Everton manager Frank Lampard says his relationship with the board hasn’t changed through a tough run of results

Everton manager Frank Lampard is confident he can turn around the ailing Merseyside club’s fortunes after suffering a sixth defeat in their last seven Premier League games at West Ham on Saturday.

Jarrod Bowen’s first-half brace was enough to sink the toothless Toffees, whose 15 points from their first 20 league games is the worst return in their history at this stage of the season and leaves them in the relegation zone.

It comes in the face of a watching Everton board and owner Farhad Moshiri, who have come under heavy criticism from fans in recent weeks as their season falters from one defeat to another.

“Those things (whether he was sacked) are not my choice, it’s my job to work, focus and keep my head down,” Lampard told Skysports. Aware of.

“I just do my job and talk about what I can impress, and that’s what the players are trying to get the right results.”

Lampard says his relationship with the board hasn’t changed since the tough run of results.

“I know there are problems. I’m trying not to cover my ears but as a coach it’s not important. They communicate (with me) and all the time I’ve been here. It’s my job to make them public. Doesn’t work.”

Lampard felt his side deserved more than Saturday’s loss, even though they could only manage two shots on target.

“We had a lot of play, the way West Ham play they give you the ball a lot of times. We carried it well but we have to be more clinical. We missed some chances and we weren’t dynamic enough. He had moments where he was dynamic and it changed the game.”

Everton are in action at home to league leaders Arsenal on February 4, followed by a Merseyside derby at Anfield. Lampard has vowed to fight on.

“[I’m]going to keep working, the only way I know how. Working on the training ground, getting going again. We have to get better as a team.

“If you score it can give you a good feeling, if you don’t you can have a feeling for the other team and that’s what happened with West Ham.”
