Amid Gehlot vs Pilot tussle, Shashi Tharoor’s BIG remark on factionalism within party

JAIPUR: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Saturday said factionalism exists to some extent in every political party, but leaders should look at the bigger picture and the collective goal. Tharoor’s comments come in the backdrop of the ongoing power struggle between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot. Speaking on the sidelines of the Jaipur Literature Festival, Tharoor said, “Are there any monolithic parties in India, don’t they have different opinions in the BJP? In a democracy, two people can have differences, but if you share an ideology If we are fighting for the same cause, what the party says is what happens.”

“It is a reality that there are some small factions in every party, but the big thing is that we all are against the BJP. These are very small things compared to the bigger issues,” he said.

Taking a dig at Gehlot on Friday, Pilot had said that the elders should think about the younger generation and the youth should get justice.

Referring to the resignation of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Pilot said Ardern was appointed to the top position eight years ago, but stepped down because of her low public ranking and instead decided to work for her party. did.

Earlier, a video had surfaced in which the Rajasthan chief minister is purportedly saying that a ‘big corona’ has come in the party after the pandemic.
Gehlot is believed to have allegedly compared the pilot to the coronavirus.

Responding to a question about the history of politicians taking names at each other, Tharoor advised his colleagues to pay attention to what they say.

He said, ‘When we are talking about our colleagues, we should use our words thoughtfully. I am proud that I have never used such words for anyone in my 14 years of political life. Once or twice I said that I don’t like to wrestle in the mud…so I request my colleagues that it is not good to say such things about your brothers and sisters. They can certainly find ways to say it and many more in private,” the Congress leader said.

The Thiruvananthapuram MP also commented on the ongoing ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and said it has ‘reinstated Rahul Gandhi’s image’.

“After all this caricature of him, this whole ‘Pappu’ business was based on three allegations, one was that he would announce a dharna one day and flee abroad the next. Here he is sticking to his guns and marching ” You can’t say all those things for 160 days… The other allegation was that he is arrogant, elitist, unapproachable and doesn’t even meet anyone. All kinds of people have come from all walks of life. He Talk to him, hold his hand, and march with him,” Tharoor said.

He said a third allegation against him was that he was a ‘useless and not serious politician’.

He said, “Here is a man who has done a dozen press conferences, how many press conferences has the Prime Minister done? Allegations against Rahul Gandhi have been blown out of proportion. This is someone who has been completely changed by the journey,” he said. They said.
