A health worker administered a dose of Kovid vaccine at Motilal Nehru Medical College in Prayagraj on Thursday.

Prayagraj: Joint teams of health, administration and education departments are conducting interaction sessions with rural residents to address their reservation against vaccination at village and block level. This is being done to expedite immunization and facilitate the cluster scheme, which aims to reach every recipient in villages, blocks and slums of Prayagraj district from July 1.
Although the turnout was low during the launch of the Near Home vaccination campaign, the subsequent interactive sessions, aimed at clearing the doubts of rural residents regarding vaccination, produced meaningful results.
So far, about 75 percent of the eligible recipients are coming to the special vaccination centers set up in primary schools, gram sabha buildings and panchayat buildings in 92 villages of six blocks of the district.
A joint team of ASHA/ANM workers, Anganwadi workers, teachers, kotdars, panchayat secretaries, teachers and pradhans are visiting the homes of rural recipients to inform them about the importance of COVID vaccination.
Additional Chief Medical Officer and District Immunization Officer (DIO), Dr Tirath Lal told TOI, “We are trying our best to encourage the rural population to get vaccinated against the deadly virus. Initially there was hesitation among the villagers, but now about 75 per cent recipients are reaching the vaccination centers to get the jab.
The data also claimed that on the first day of the launch of Near Home Vaccination (June 21), the number of recipients stood at 3,214 against the set target of 9,200. However, later on the second and third day it increased to 5,729 and 6,945 respectively.
The district health department officials have set a target to administer around 39.87 lakh beneficiaries, which includes 27 lakh in the age group of 18 to 44 years and 12.87 lakh recipients above the age of 45 years.
The COVID vaccination campaign in Sangam city has undoubtedly gained momentum. As on 23rd June, 7,81,324 jobs have already been placed to the recipients of all age groups.
While 6,52,032 beneficiaries have received the first dose of the vaccine, a total of 1,29,292 recipients have also received the second dose.
Officials said the vaccination exercise is currently underway at 90 sites across the district.
Meanwhile, the ACMO admitted that the special pink booths for women and guardian special booths have failed to produce the desired results.
However, he added, “On an average, we are covering 15,000-16,000 beneficiaries of all age groups in a single day, and efforts are on to cover more crowds.”
“A total of 16,465 vaccine shots were administered to recipients of all age groups in the past 24 hours, including 15,977 recipients of the first dose and 488 of the second dose,” the ACMO said. Register yourself on the portal of the Health Department for vaccination.
