Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Bhopal Pragya Thakur has claimed that she has received murder threats over a phone call from an unidentified caller posing as an aide of Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar. In the viral audio clip in which Thakur talks with the unidentified caller (as claimed) for a minute and a half, she kept asking him why he would be murdered. “Okay, you want to kill me, but tell me why do you want to kill me?” Thakur is heard saying in the audio. Thakur repeated: “Tell me why you want to kill me, I want to know.” The caller replied: “We will not spare you. When our man kills, he will tell you why.”

“Come and kill me”, she said, “if you have the guts, come and show me.” Bhopal Police said that further action is being taken by registering an FIR against the unknown caller. Thakur, popularly known as Sadhvi Pragya, had won the general election in 2019 against senior Congress leader and two-time Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh. He is also an accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blasts, in which 10 people were killed and 82 were injured.
