The Telangana Chief Minister’s daughter was summoned to Delhi by the ED on March 10 for her alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scam. This coincided with her planned ‘dharna’ at Jantar Mantar on the same day demanding the introduction of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.

The summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the ‘dharna’ for the Women’s Reservation Bill have brought the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader’s poem into the political spotlight.

At a press conference in New Delhi on Thursday, the Telangana MLC said that in poll-bound states ‘ED comes before PM Modi’. He also informed that 6,000 people have confirmed their participation in the dharna at Jantar Mantar demanding the bill, while 18 political parties have shown their interest.

Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, is currently the most talked about politician of the state. The ED had summoned him to Delhi on March 10 for his alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scam. This coincided with her planned ‘dharna’ at Jantar Mantar on the same day demanding the introduction of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.

There are speculations that Kavita may be arrested any day. After seeking an exemption regarding the date of the statement, the MLC announced that she would appear before the ED on March 11. They have claimed that they were called because of their proposed ‘dharna’. Ever since her name cropped up in the liquor scam case, Kavita has said that central agencies are being used by the BJP to crack down on opposition leaders.

Talking to the media in the capital, he said that the ED did not accede to his request to question him at his residence in Hyderabad. “When the ED or any agency wants to interrogate a woman, they should come to her residence. I had requested ED to come to our house, the law is on our side in this. Since I am a political leader, I have the means to come here, but what happens when it is a common woman? I am going to raise this issue. If any agency has to interrogate a woman, it should be done through video conferencing.

Kavita said: “I am going to cooperate with the agency. However, it has been observed that whenever there is an election in a state, the ED reaches there before Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Instead the PM should come to the state And people’s hearts should be won. I want to reiterate that we are not afraid. We are going to expose all the failures of the Modi government.”

Pointing out the Centre’s failures, he said: “All officers of central agencies get an extension. Why can’t Agniveers get extension? What are his job prospects after four years? I request Modi to ask his friend BL Santhosh to appear before the investigation in Telangana MLA poach-gate case.

Kavita also clarified on who could become the prime ministerial face in a united opposition, saying: “Who becomes the PM candidate is unimportant. Our aim is to serve the people. We will work with like minded people. In Telangana, we have schemes like Rythu Bandhu and uninterrupted power supply. We want to implement it in the entire state.

Kavitha’s summons came after the arrest of businessman Arun Ramachandran Pillai, who was allegedly her ‘head’ in a company owned by her.

There has been a sharp reaction from all political parties on the summons. While his party BRS is reportedly gearing up for a countrywide protest if he is arrested, BJP leaders have termed his ‘dharna’ for the bill as ridiculous. He told that when it has not been implemented in the KCR cabinet then the pink party has no right to demand women’s reservation.
