Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Telangana and Tamil Nadu today (April 8) to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several development projects in the two southern states.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 11,300 crore in Telangana, besides flagging off the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express today. Modi will also participate in a public meeting at Parade Ground as part of his fast tour of the city.

He will lay the foundation stone of AIIMS Bibinagar and five National Highway projects.

Secunderabad Railway Station Redevelopment,

He will also lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station at around 11:45 am and dedicate other railway development projects to the nation. The Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express, which connects Hyderabad to the abode of Lord Venkateswara, Tirupati, is the second Vande Bharat train to be launched from Telangana within a short span of three months.

The train will reduce the travel time between the two cities by about three and a half hours and will be especially beneficial for the pilgrims. The redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station will be done at a cost of Rs.

At a cost of Rs 720 crore, it is being planned in such a way that it will undergo a massive makeover with world-class facilities and an aesthetically designed iconic station building.

The redeveloped station will have a double-level spacious roof plaza with all passenger amenities at one place, as well as multi-modal connectivity to provide seamless transfer of passengers from rail to other modes.

MMTS Services,

During the visit, Modi will flag off 13 new Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS) services in the suburban section of the Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin city region, which will provide fast, convenient and comfortable travel options to commuters.

He will also dedicate to the nation the doubling and electrification of the Secunderabad-Mahbubnagar project. The project covering a distance of over 85 km has been completed at a cost of about Rs 1,410 crore. This project will provide seamless connectivity and help in increasing the average speed of trains.

AIIMS Bibi Nagar,

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of AIIMS Bibinagar in Hyderabad at around 12:15 pm in a public function at Parade Ground. An official release had earlier said that this is a testimony to the PM’s vision of strengthening the health infrastructure across the country. AIIMS Bibinagar is being developed at a cost of over Rs 1,350 crore. The establishment of AIIMS Bibinagar is an important milestone towards providing comprehensive, quality and holistic tertiary care health services to the people of Telangana at their doorsteps.

National Highway:

Modi will also lay the foundation stone for national highway projects worth over Rs 7,850 crore. These road projects will strengthen the road connectivity of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and help in the socio-economic development of the region.

PM Modi will inaugurate several development projects in Tamil Nadu today. He will inaugurate several infrastructure projects, including the state-of-the-art integrated terminal building at the Chennai airport set up with a total outlay of Rs 2,437 crore, upon his arrival in the state on April 8 (Saturday). Security has been beefed up across the city in view of the yatra, police said, while motorists have been asked to plan their journeys to reach their destinations as detailed traffic routes have been diverted.

After his arrival, Modi will inaugurate the new terminal, the first phase of which has been completed. This is expected to increase the number of passengers to 35 million per year. In a tweet, Modi had said, “This will be a significant addition to Chennai’s infrastructure. It will boost connectivity and also benefit the local economy.”

According to Chennai airport authorities, the new integrated terminal is spread over 2.20 lakh square meters and will cater to the growing air traffic in Tamil Nadu. He said that the terminal is also a reflection of the commitment of the government towards providing high quality infrastructure to the passengers.

“With an annual passenger capacity of 35 million passengers, the state-of-the-art facility at Chennai airport will improve air travel experiences for all,” the Ministry of Civil Aviation said. The terminal is equipped with 108 immigration counters which are evenly divided between the arrivals and departures areas. It added that it will significantly enhance the travel experience for passengers by expediting the transit process.

Vande Bharat Express Train:

Besides inaugurating the integrated new terminal, Modi will also flag off the Vande Bharat train between Chennai and Coimbatore from Purachi Thalaivar Dr MGR Central Railway Station here. Southern Railway plans to run high-speed Vande Bharat Express trains between the two cities on all days except Wednesday.

Southern Railway said that the train will reach the destination in about 5.50 hours at a speed of 130 kmph in both directions, thereby saving travel time of 1.20 hours as compared to express trains. Later, Modi will attend the 125th annual celebrations of the Ramakrishna Math at Vivekananda Illam on the arterial Kamarajar Salai (Beach Road) and also inaugurate infrastructure projects at Pallavaram.
