National People’s Party chief Sangma will take oath as chief minister for the second time on Tuesday after leading his party to a landslide victory in 26 out of 59 seats in the elections held on February 27.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Officials said on Tuesday the chief minister would attend the swearing-in ceremony of Conrad K Sangma and his cabinet colleagues.

National People’s Party chief Sangma will take oath as chief minister for the second time on Tuesday after leading his party to a landslide victory in 26 out of 59 seats in the elections held on February 27.

He said, ‘All preparations are going on for the Prime Minister’s visit tomorrow. He will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister and his cabinet members at Raj Bhavan.”

Security has been beefed up in the city ahead of the yatra.

The NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance with 32 MLAs has staked claim to form the next government in the northeastern state.

Sangma said the NPP would get eight cabinet berths, while allies UDP would get two with 11 MLAs, BJP and HSPDP would get one ministerial berth each with two MLAs.

Earlier in the day, Speaker Pro-tem Timothy D’Shira administered the oath of office and secrecy to 58 MLAs.
